Parker Village Foundation Announces “The Community Transportation Loop ( CTL)” Clean Energy Transportation Initiative

Highland Park, Michigan — Parker Village Foundation today announced plans to develop a new clean-energy transportation service designed to improve mobility and access to essential services for Highland Park residents.

The proposed service, called the Community Transportation Loop, will utilize photovoltaic-powered electric vehicles (PV/EV) to provide a regular transportation route connecting Parker Village with key destinations throughout the city.

The Community Loop is being designed to operate seven days a week and will focus particularly on serving seniors and residents who may have limited transportation options.

Planned stops along the route will include:

• Highland Park’s shopping district

• The post office and municipal buildings

• Local banks and financial institutions

• Community resource centers such as Avalon Village and Parker Village

The initiative is part of Parker Village’s broader effort to create a sustainable “smart neighborhood” that integrates clean energy, technology, and community-based services.

“Transportation access is one of the most important factors in maintaining independence and quality of life,” said a Parker Village representative. “The Community Transportation Loop is intended to provide reliable, affordable transportation while demonstrating how clean energy solutions can benefit local communities.”

The electric vehicles planned for the route will be powered in part by solar energy systems, reducing operating costs and environmental impact while showcasing innovative energy solutions that can be deployed in small cities.

Parker Village leaders say the transportation loop is currently in the planning and partnership development stage, with additional details to be announced as the project moves toward implementation.

The initiative is expected to complement other Parker Village developments planned for the coming years, including energy-efficient smart homes, local food initiatives, and expanded community services.

Together, these projects aim to create a neighborhood model that combines sustainability, technology, and community collaboration to strengthen Highland Park’s future.
